FaçadesUpper Haight AshburyIn this project, I didn't so much restore the façade as renovate it. The circa 1907 house was mostly original except for the front stairs. What prompted the renovation was the crumbling original plaster ornaments on the gable. They could not be effectively restored, and in any case I felt they did not suit the house. |

The existing stairs were rotted and did not conform to the house's overall architecture. Working with Cairn Construction, we replaced them with a stair and landing that match the era of the building in look. |

All of the moldings and detailing in the picture below are new except for the porch post. A small amount of gold leafing was used on the buttons of the scrollwork. |
